Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) 2016/2017

Hi all,

Have any of you applied to Los Angeles Southwest College (LASC) 2016 or 2017? I'm considering applying; however, I can't find much information on the curriculum for the program.

If there are any alumni out there that can explain what semester the Drug Calculations and Pharmacology course takes place in, I'd greatly appreciate it.

How are the Nursing Orientation and Nursing Bootcamp courses? They're not mandatory, right?

Also, how does third semester work? I noticed times for 502B Med-Surg conflict with OB, but are taken concurrently in the first 8 weeks of the semester.

Specializes in Psych/Med Surg/Ortho/Tele/Peds.

Hi, I am a successful graduate of LASC's ASN program, December 2015. I am also a RN (passed on the first try), as well as employed at the highest paying hospital in SoCal within a month of passing NCLEX.

Drug calc and pharmacology are courses outside of the program and are optional, I believe. I cannot advise you as to the flow of the third semester, as things may have changed since I've graduated.

Orientation is mandatory, from what I knew and bootcamp is extremely beneficial. You get an opportunity to interact with your instructors, get a feel for the flow of the program. You buy your theory scrubs, get your book list and learn how to study in an ASN program.

The curriculum is similar to many other associate degree programs, sans the Geriatric component ~ that is incorporated into all semesters, except the OB/Peds module.

I hope this information has been helpful.

I love my school and are grateful to have attended. I am an RN now and that is a dream come true.

Thank you for your feedback!

Did you end up applying?
