Los angeles pierce rn program fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

My name is Blake and will be trying for the ADN to BSN program at Pierce for Fall 2018. Used up this year completing last minute pre reqs and the TEAS test in order to apply. Would love to see where everyone is at in applying for Fall 2018 and beyond, and which other colleges you plan on applying to as well!

I have been researching other colleges that are on the lotto system and some point systems ones that don't seem to require too many other classes none of the other places require.

BTW, when do FALL 2018 apps open up? Couldn't find a link on the Pierce Nursing page.

Looking forward to meeting you all!

@sambelike hey, it's better than having to take it over again lol I got an 82.

This cycle I'm just applying to LAPC. Long story short.. i took some classes out of state & most schools here didnt accept them since they are quarter units not semester so i took some classes again but most applications had closed by the time grades posted.

did you apply elsewhere?

@highervibrations ah that's so good! I wouldn't see why you wouldn't get in! Well I think the next cycle is coming up soon for Glendale and Pasadena college if you're interested in those schools. I'm pretty sure if you apply to moorpark they would take you too but their application date is in August.

@highervibrations

I reapplied to pierce, Glendale (waitlisted for summer/fall), Ventura college, moorpark(waitlisted).

@sambelike Right! That's what you'd think but it's so competitive here in LA. I'm seriously debating going to Westcoast but that debt does not sound appealing.

Oh yeah, I will apply to more schools next cycle if I don't get a spot at LAPC. I really hope I get lucky though. That school is 10 mins from my house. I will be applying for the ADN-BSN program if i get accepted there. I initially wanted to go to LA county college but driving 40+ miles in LA traffic isn't so efficient when time is of the essence is nursing school. I could be spending that time studying.

All in all, I hope we both get accepted!

@highervibrations yeah LA is weird though because it doesn't ask for work experience but Ventura county does. I think the only thing hurting me is my teas because I have pretty good grades and I work in a hospital. LA traffic is the worst too. I hate driving in it. Well May is when we hear so hopefully some good news for both of us!

I also applied to Pierce College. I applied to LA Harbor, Rio Hondo, Cerritos, and LA Trade Tech ( Im starting Fall 2019). I suggest applying to LA Trade tech while you apply to other schools. There are no deadlines and as long as you meet all the pre-reqs you will place on a first come first serve waitlist. Typically the wait list is 2-3 semesters wait. But you may get in sooner if people get accepted to other schools and drop their spot on the list. It a really good back up!

@cvarga19

Hey! Thanks for letting me know about LATTC. I just looked into it and their pass rates are really good. I will be attending their info session next month! I wish I did this last year! But it's a good idea to have as a back up! Is this your first year applying??

@sambelike I applied for spring semester at Palomar College, saddleback and la harbor. Hopefully I get into a program for fall but if not at least I'm on the waitlist to start next fall for sure.

@cvarga19 oh cool I hope you get in too! I wish all nursing schools did a first come first serve. I feel like there wouldn't be so many waitlisted people :/

@sambelike Yeah it is crazy that there is such a shortage or nurses and yet it is still so difficult to get into a program. I met with the nursing counselor at LA Trade Tech and she was saying that they are first come first serve because they do not believe that you need to be a 4.0 gpa student to be a successful nurse. She said there are so many different skills and aspects that go into being a nurse and its not fair to just base it on GPA. Nursing is a lot of people skills and having the passion as well and the knowledge.

@cvarga19 yeah I completely agree with that. I feel like that's what the nursing program is for or even being a CNA or just working at a retirement home. I didn't do well on the TEAS but isn't relevant to being a nurse at all. It sucks but I'm happy to know there is a program that does what they do. Waiting for almost a year n a half makes me feel hopeless lol. But I'm gonna keep trying
