Los Angeles county hiring process

Published

Hi,

Can anyone give me advice about getting hired on through LA county? I have put in my online application, begun my license paperwork with California BON. Does it take a long time to know if you will get hired? Do you know which hospitals are hiring? Any advice, please??? Thanks.

Are you referring to LA County Hospital, aka, MLK? If so, why in the world would you want to work there?

I know all the awful stuff about MLK. Yet LA county seems to have excellent benefits. I am looking to retire in about 18 years and the plan seems very good. Also, i am seeking to be cross trained in area I have no experience so figure this might be a good place to learn.

I would seriously rethink working at MLK. They are no longer accredited by JCAHO...............and have lost accreditation by several other groups as well.

I don't think that putting a nursing license in jeopardy is up there on the list of what you really want to do. Their staffing ratios are bad, plus supplies, and ancillary personnel to help you.............You will have a chance of losing your license there on a daily basis...........and I don't think that anyone that has worked for so long really wants that.

Why would it be a good learning place when they are no longer accredited? You can get training for other areas at almost any other facility.............

Quite scary, if you are asking for my personal opinion.................... :o

I agree with Suzanne....a very scary place to work.

If you are looking for good benefits I would suggest UCLA.
