Nurses Uniform/Gear

Dear Nursing friends--I have been in a desperate search for a TUBEX injector. It is a light blue plastic medication holder that is a universal holder for all tubex or carpuject medications. It works great and a co-worker borrowed mine and lost it (I had it for 15 years!). I am still in mourning over the loss and I cannot find another one.:scrying: The hospital I work for only purchases the carpuject/Abbott holders and they are second-rate to my other holder. If anyone can give me an address, web-site, or company that still sells them--please post!!! THANKS!!

Specializes in Med Surg, ER, OR.

why not ask your job where you can find one? if they already use them, they probably know where to get some more (even some better quailty one's too).

My hospital uses the Abbott Carpujects with suck compared to the blue plastic tubex. I called the pharmacy and they only can purchase what our vendors provide. Thanks for the try.

We ran into this at my hospital, and apparently, Wyeth has discontinued most of their Tubex dosage forms, as well as the Tubex holders. The only available products now seem to be the Carpujects. Some institutions are also going away from Carpujects as well due to safety/sterility issues, so everyone may be going back to drawing out of vials for everything...

I have 4 of them. Not carpujects but the tubex that is no longer being made... how much are they worth to ya!?!?! ;-)

HI jhittrn--Sooo, you are sitting on a stash of the rare and precious tubex injectors huh?! Wow--you need to hold on to at least two of them! Our hospital only provides those crappy carpujects. I have (in the past of course) had the bad habit of breaking top off of the carpuject and aspirating the med right out of the port with a needle and 3mL syringe (which is a CMS/JACHO/OSHA no-no for nurses).

If you are willing to part with two for $20, let me know. I currently have two of them--one I thought I had lost and the other was from a nurse who no longer did bedside care, so I have my stash as well. However, plastic does eventually break and I don't mind having a couple in reserve.

Just reply to the message if you are interested and thanks for the offer.

Sincerely--old ICU nurse!!

:D thanks for the reply! I have actually tried those places (e-bay and amazon)--and they only have the metal ones that are for dental carpules. I actually was given one by my nurse manager that had one in a box in her closet forever and never used it. Then the person who "lost" mine--found it in her laundry. SO, all is well and thanks for the help!!!!

I found this site. Hope it helps! Search "carpuject holders" and other will come up also.
