Looking to take NCLEX-RN

Published

Hey there everyone,

I'm almost finished with my program, and I was wondering how do you register/find out where the NCLEX exam is administered? Is there a site to check out?

Thanks! :clown:

They will talk about this in school. Most schools do everyone's paperwork together. Ask them. Otherwise, go to the website of your state BRN, download the application for a license, and get started. Good luck.

Steps for registering for NCLEX-RN:

1. Fill out the RN licensure application for the state where you would like to be licensed. You can get this by calling your state Board of Nursing or by visiting the state website. You will need several things for this application:

  • The complete application
  • A letter from your school stating that you have completed all the requirements of the nursing program
  • Official transcripts (some states)
  • The application fee (75-200 dollars depending on your state)

2. Your state BON will send you information regarding fingerprinting and a background check, or this will be inlcuded in the application. You need to be fingerprinted or submit recent fingerprints and complete a background check.

3. Register with Pearson VUE online. You can do this at any time. You will need to create an account and then create a registration for the NCLEX-RN exam. The fee is 200 dollars due at the time of registration.

4. Wait for your Authorization to Test. Once the BON has finished processing your appliction, they will notify Pearson VUE and Pearson VUE will send you an ATT number. You can then go online and schedule your exam. When you schedule, it gives you the option to search available dates in the five test centers closest to you. You can find a test center now by visiting this link: http://www9.pearsonvue.com/Dispatcher?application=VTCLocator&action=actStartApp&v=W2L&cid=170

5. Take the exam. When you complete the test the results are sent to your state BON immediately. Depending on your state, you will receive notification of your test results within 2-6 weeks. Some states may put your name online sooner than this. Depending on where you live, you may be able to participate in Quick Results through Pearson VUE and receive your unoffical results after 48 hours by paying 7.95.
