I have browsed through the sticky on recommended reading, and while it was helpful, it was also a bit overwhelming.
I am an LPN with several years experience in an out of hospital birth setting as an OB office nurse, L&D nurse, postpartum nurse, and baby nurse (we nurses wear all the hats in this particular birth center). I am now going back to school to get my BSN, and so will soon start to work prn for an agency, where I will be placed in post partum/mother baby, and the nursery (level I).
I am very experienced in some aspects of post partum care and newborn care, and hardly at all in others. I would really like a good, thorough, clinical book on mother/baby nursing. I feel like my mother/baby text from nursing school, besides being 6 years old, isn't specific enough in many instances. If your recommended book had information about common drugs used in the post partum/nursery settings, it would be a bonus.
Thanks in advance!

For generalized Mother/Baby nursing I can recommend this one, it's in a very easy to use outline form, and very comprehensive:

Core Curriculum for Maternal-Newborn Nursing
From AWHONN by Judy Mattson and Judy Smith
I have a copy myself. Easy and ready reference!
PLEASE NOTE: make sure you purchase the edition published in June, 2004, if you feel your are interested.
I can also recommend other books by AWHONN, as well

Thanks! I've been looking at the sticky, checking out the options on half.com an amazon, but I so few have reviews, I wanted to hear what nurses who actually work in the field found helpful.
