Looking for RN Schools around Charlotte....

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello everyone - I'm new to the site....... I just graduated on Friday from LPN school (I take my boards next month - wish me luck!!) but am planning to move to NC ( Charlotte area ) next year and I want to start looking into RN schools - does anyone have any advice where to go? Community College would be ideal (Again, I just graduted - I'm not making any money yet!! haha).. thanks again, Jacqueline :nurse:

Mercy School of Nursing will be starting an LPN-to-RN bridge program this fall. I'm not sure how well publicized it is, but you may want to contact the school. I believe your other options would be applying to the community colleges in the area (and perhaps starting as a 2nd year student???).

I am a graduate of Mercy School of Nursing and would recommend the school as well. While I cannot speak for their LPN program b/c it is new and started after I graduated, I can recommend the school and instructors. Also, the class that just graduated had a 100% passing rate on NCLEX :yeah: Also if money is a concern, they hospital CMC does offer a 80/20 loan payback that pays for 80% of your tuition if you agree to work for them after graduation. I know this plan is in place for the RN program but am not sure if they are offering it for the bridge but I would assume so. Good luck to you!

I am in the exact same situation. I went to school in Illinois for two years, hated it and now my fiance and I are moving to Charlotte and money is tight while trying to get into nursing school. Which hospital should I contact that offers a 80/20 loan payback so I can get in touch with them?

It's Carolina's medical center that offers the loan. They offer it to students at their school (carolinas college of health sciences) and students at Mercy school of nursing. Just be careful with the loan. If you're not able to get a job with the hospital after graduation, then you have to repay the loan as if you broke the agreement. Taking the 80/20 loan doesn't assure you a job after graduation.

There are a lot of colleges with RN programs in the area. To list just a few: Central Piedmont Community College, Carolinas College of Health Sciences, Mercy School of Nursing, Gaston College, Queens University of Charlotte, UNC Charlotte.

You can check out the websites for each to find out more.

If you come a little bit south, the York Technical College/USC-Lancaster program is wonderful! It's an ADN program combined between the two schools. We had a few students that commuted from areas in Charlotte. The faculty are just amazing.
