Unfortunately BC is one of the provinces hardest hit by the recession. They've been laying off or leaving vacancies unfilled. At this point I'd say you'll need some kind of divine intervention, great luck or a fluke to get a job in that economy right now. I'd suggest you contact human resources at the hospitals that have intensive care services and speak to someone directly about what the odds are, because I believe that what might set you apart is your ICU experience.
I hate this recession, and the sad thing is that is gonna last! I have been away from bed side now for a year, fortunatelly I have a job doing clinical research that pays well, but I am loosing all my skills. I am stuck in Germany with no german license, I have a FL and a BC license that I cannot use. Very depressing. I studied my tail off for my RN degree and if I will stay away from bed side for a few more years I will be pretty much worthless!

Hi,
I am an RN from Florida with 1 year ICU experience. I have a BC provisional license and I will take the CRNE in October. I applied to all health authorities in BC with no reply yet. I am looking for an RN job and I need a visa to work in Canada. I can either work in a hospital or in a community setting.
Can anybody help?
Thank you.
