I relocated to Denver from central Arizona 5 years ago, and I was able to easily find a job (two, actually) but I came with 5 years of L&D experience. I've worked L&D at UCH, as well as several Centura facilities (Avista, old St. Anthony North, the now-defunct St. Anthony Central). I'm happy to answer any questions you have, but unless you are moving with at least a year or two of L&D experience, it's really hard to get your foot in the door, unless you're accepted into a new grad residency.
I liked UCH fine. It's a great facility. I know there has been some recent upheaval in L&D over the past year and a lot of staff has left, including the nurse manager. So I can't really speak for how it is now. As far as the logistics of moving - we did not have a house to sell, so we knew we would be leaving the end of April, with nothing holding us to our old community. I think I started applying in February, and had a panel phone interview maybe early April? I was offered the job contingent upon drug test, which I completed as soon as we got into town.
Hi! If you like Montrose or Delta you would like Alamosa in the San Luis Valley of Colorado! We are home to the Great Sand Dunes National park, hiking, fishing and any outdoor sport you could want. I work on the L&D unit there. Alamosa is a small town with a great community and full of lots of families. We moved here 3 years ago and we love it. Right now there is only a PRN position posted but you should apply. We definitely need more full time help. There are currently two open shift per week just as a PRN nurse. If you would like to talk more you can email me at [email protected] Our website is here : San Luis Valley Health

Hi,
Im looking to relocate my family to Colorado and was wondering if some nurses have relocated before? Im coming from Illinois with 2 young kids and a husband. We really want to move to Montrose or Delta but there just some slim pickins there so im thinking the Denver area.
What are you experiences with Denver hospitals in LD? Also, anybody ever relocated before??? Did you get a job first?
