  1. Hi thank you for the offer. We actually want to move to delta /montrose area. It looks like this hospital is quite a drive. But I appreciate it.
  2. You got 7 weeks from the team you got hired to the day you started.... I haven't had the official interview yet and when that happens there will be about 3 weeks before they want me to start.
  3. I need advice on accepting a job and moving across states.... I'm 99% positive im going to accept a job across the US... However the HR lady I spoke with wants me there in 6 weeks!!!! Now i have a house to prepare and sell, 2 young kids and a husband to move and to let my current job know I might accept this position.... I'm suppose to have a phone interview with this lady next week and we briefly talked 2 days ago about the position and how they want me there and I even told her we have a vacation paid, and about my house. She never mentioned a sign on bonus or relocating stipend..... (i should mention a recruiter I spoke to earlier had mentioned there was a relocating stipened) Should I ask for a bonus after my interview next week? Bc I'm thinking if I'm going ot move so quick they should help pay for it right???? I've never moved out of state before so I'm not sure how much negotiating is too much.
  4. I have previous experience in a busy hospital so Im not worried about that. Did you like UCH? How did the process work...get a job, sell your house...etc....
  5. Hi, Im looking to relocate my family to Colorado and was wondering if some nurses have relocated before? Im coming from Illinois with 2 young kids and a husband. We really want to move to Montrose or Delta but there just some slim pickins there so im thinking the Denver area. What are you experiences with Denver hospitals in LD? Also, anybody ever relocated before??? Did you get a job first?
  6. I'm new to LD and I've been off orientation for a couple of weeks. We'll I assisted another nurse with a delivery and ended up being baby nurse. So baby was born and the doc placed baby on moms chest and while there was a million people in the room I couldn't get to baby so the LD nurse was stimulating baby not a problem. So I'm like ok we'll I'm going to start doing the paperwork on the other side of the room and the LD nurse was like ok. And after about 5min the LD nurse brought the baby to the warmer and as I turn around to look at the baby he's retracting and pinkish blotchy but def not a good pink, crying but having a hard time so I deep suction him (in the mean time I forgot to "admit" the baby on the bed so I didn't put the temp probe on bc I was worried about his breathing) so another nurse was there and I'm like I need nicu can u call....well after a few min nicu came and the time is 14min after birth and they're like what happened, when was he born...so I told them and they're working up on him and I can hear them like snickering to each other like why we didn't call sooner and didn't do anything to the baby. So one nicu rn makes a comment about how we didn't call sooner and it's been 40min since time of birth and I'm like no it's been 14 min and I started suctioning him bc he was on moms chest for a bit and crying from what the LD nurse told me. And they're like ooooo we thought u said a diff time. Well anyway I had to do the Apgars and I gave the baby 7 &8 for color and breathing. But I'm just worried bc I really didn't see the baby the first 5min or so and I was just going based off of what he looked like when he came to me. so idk if I just needed to vent to u guys or if I should have done something diff or if I did something wrong. I'm just really nervous for some reason bc I gave the baby Apgars 7&8.
  7. Tomorrows my last day of orientation on LD. Im an experienced med surg nurse and I knew coming into a specialty it was going to be a loooong time before im comfortable. The thing is everyone on tje unit says ill do fine and people are always there to help you out. Im sooo fricken nervous to be on my own. The nurses keep tellibg me that im actually a really good new grad compared to other new grads they've had. That I pick up things really fast. I just wish I had the confidence in my self. Any words of encouragement would be great!

I'm an experienced med surg RN recently started in LD and been there 3days now for 12 weeks of orientation. I'm excited but more nervous to be working bc all I do right now is inductions and just the thought of it makes my heart race with variable fht. I know I'm a good nurse and my preceptor keeps telling me I'm very good and that she knows she won't have to worry about me at the end of my orientation.....however deep inside I'm sooooooo nervous when a baby's heart rate drops. So will these feelings go away???? Obviously being new I don't know anything it's just scary going from knowing everything to knowing nothing.... btw thanks for listening to my vent!
  9. At assessing the cervix and how long did it take? I'm on orientation for 12 weeks, felt my first cervix and it just felt spongy to me to which my preceptor said she's 4cm and 90 effaced. Will i I feel a difference before I'm off orientation?????
