hello...i would like get job in england as nurse...what i have to do? because i dont have NMC register. i dont know how to become NMC Reg. anyone can help me...thank you all....:)

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

All info is on the NMC in regards to registering but the main issue if not from the UK or EU is obtaining a work permit as most employers will not look at your application if not from the UK or EU unless job is on the shortage list and not many jobs for nurses are on the list

Specializes in ER.

Check out the NMC website for exact info, I'm assuming you are an RN in your home country, and either have or are studying for the English exam?

Some hospitals offer the Overseas Adaptation Program, which is usually around 5-6 months, a couple of days a week in university and the rest of the week working as an HCA. In London they recruit specifically from the Philippines and from India, if you live in one of those countries, you can be interviewed by videolink while still in your home country, they have set up facilities for that in a few cities there.

But the NMC is where you need to start . . .

But please bear in mind that the job situation in the UK is pretty desperate.

There are departmental closures alsmot every week, and huge cutbacks everywhere. Just in the one local hospital where I am right now, in the past 2 years they have closed maternity, paeds, surgery, urology and maxfax. Other local hospitals have similar stories.

Some nurses find other jobs within the same trust, and others move on elsewhere.

The competition for jobs is huge, and there are more nurses leaving the UK than ever before.

(thats according to the Metropolitan police fingerprinting dept, who do the prints needed for emigration visas! They used to employ one person, now they have four, and the walk-in service now has a three month waiting list !)
