Looking for a new hospital

U.S.A. Nevada

I'm interested in Sunrise hospital, specifically their ICU's, with the exception of their Pulmonary and Neuro ICU's. I'm at St. Rose right now, in ICU, and I'm not really into it, so to speak. My husband says I'm miserable and that I should just quit. It's a tough decision to make. I've been at St. Rose since 2002: first as a Nurse Apprentice for 2 years, then as an RN. St. Rose has a decent benefits package, and even though I'm not too happy in their ICU right now, I can say that at least I have a decent rapport with the nurses there. I'm not sure why I'm so unhappy there.

I'm not looking for "greener grass", I think mainly it's probably time for a change. A lot of times I get tired of working like a dog, but what nurse doesn't...and from what I understand, Sunrise ICU's are very busy. Any information on Sunrise would be great. What are the benefits like? How about the teamwork of staff members? What's the management like? Charge nurses? ANYTHING you can think of, I want to hear it.

I'm just nervous. I love my manager at St. Rose. I know the system: charting, I've made a network of friends: ancillary staff, nurses, etc. I have a good rapport with many of the MD's, and so on. Given all of that, I'm just not happy. Come on, tell me about Sunrise.

Which St. Rose do you work at? PM me if you feel comfortable.

Sunrise has numerous ICU's-- trauma, CV, neuro, SICU, etc.

I was offered a job at St. Rose and Sunrise ICU's, and I took St. Rose because I heard bad things about how Sunrise treats its RN's from a nurse who had worked at both hospitals. I, too, love my manager and the people I work with. However, I also want to keep up my ICU skills set, and wonder sometimes if I need to move to a level II center to do so. If I were to move on, though, based on what I've heard through the valley, I'd move on to Sunrise. And they were great through the interview process-- I personally have no bad opinions of them.

Anyway, just my two cents.

Hi to all In Vegas-I can't wait to get moved down there with my new husband in June-anyway-I have had a lot of recruiters calling me for jobs at certain hospitals-the only ones I really here about are MT View, St Rose, This hospital is North Vista off E Lake Mead-good location for me since I will be living in North Vegas-Can anyone give me any knowledge on this place or others in the North Vegas area-THANKS

I haven't heard great things about North Vista. They are also in a sketchy past of town, so be careful. What I've heard are mostly about compensation and the patient population being the homeless/ dangerous types. Mt. View is a great hospital. I've heard that the CEO makes rounds and visits the nurses to talk with them. It is an HCA hospital, so you have those benefits. I had a friend working there as a NAP and then as an RN after school.

Thanks for the info-I really need all the help I can before I move to Vegas-I just do not want to get into a bad situation-I spoke with a company called Wesley Medical Staffing yesterday and I really liked what they had to say-so I might go that route as a travel nurse first then go to per deam. I can work local and check out hospitals in my area. Again thanks so much-any more help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
