  1. I do not have any PICU experience-I do have my NRP and PALS and ACLS but no ICU at all-thanks for all your info-wish me luck-I am permanately moving to Vegas in June with my fiance who already lives there-we are getting married May 23. I look so forward to my big plans and move and will not miss the cold and snow here in North Dakota. Maybe our paths will cross sometime?
  2. I know you said you do not fire them but how about your travelers-are they treated any different? This is my first travel assignment ever-I have been nursing for 14 years but most of that in Med/Surg and only 2 years in the ER. AS you can tell I am a little nervous.
  3. Thanks for some info on the BKAT test-I am going to start at Summerlin in the ER as a traveler for 13 weeks. What hospital are you at?
  4. Hi-I recently have hired on to a Las Vegas hospital in their ER dept as a traveler for a 13 week stay-I was told that I have to take this 100 question BKAT-6 test. What is this test-I know it is for critical nursing and sort of a eval on my knowledge but I also heard it is very hard and if you fail they cancel your contract with them. Anyone know of this and the test?
  5. Hi-not sure where to throw this question in so here it is: I recently took on an assignment at a Las Vegas, NV ER department and I have to take the 100 question BKAT-6 test. What is this-I know it is a critical nursing eval test but I have heard it is a bugger of a test and that if you fail the contract is cancelled-any thoughts out there?
  6. Question-I recently have been signed on to a 13 week assignment at a hospital in Nevada-Las Vegas-ER-I am to take a BKAT-6, 100 question, crital nursing test-what is this-I looked up info and have heard it is a really hard test-any thoughts out there?
  7. I just signed up for my first travel assignment in Las Vegas. My pay is only 26/hr - 1200 housing stipend and travel rebursment. I have been a nurse in MS for 14 years and ER for only 2 but the position is for ER at a non-trauma 22 bed hospital. The pay seems low but as I talk to others they say this is about right for Nevada???? Anyone have thoughts on this-also anyone out there ever travel and work in Vegas? Also what is this PBDS test? As you can tell I really am dumb about this travel nurse stuff and need a lot of help with it! I am quite anxious about starting this new adventure in my life but ready for a change too-
  8. Hi-you sound just like me-I have my permanent NV license and will be moving in June to Vegas-I can't decide between travel or permanent either-Med/Surg/ER are my places to work. I have a permanent offer at Summerlin Hospital but don't know too much about them? Since your post have you had any luck with offers? I would like to hear from you and any news you may have about the Vegas nursing too. Thanks
  9. Hi-the UMC sounds great to work at BUT too far from where I live-so I have been offered a ED position at Summerlin Hospital. Any thoughts out there about this facility. I been looking thru the posts and not too much is said-so looking for bits of wisdom. By the way-how is Centennial Hills coming along since it has opened? Hope to hear from some of you out there
  10. Hey 505girl-just noticed you post from a long time ago!!! Are you still at Mt View hospital???? I am moving there in June 2008 and live 1 block from the hospital-so wondering if you still like it and how the conditions are there now-any suggestions to work in Vegas would be great-most of my years are Med-Surg-RN charge nurse. Thanks
  11. Hi to Tinkers2-I saw your post-I know it has been some time since you posted this-just wondering how things are going for you-I an RN with 15 years MED/SURG experience-moving to Vegas in June. Any info you could pass along to me would be great-also have you heard of the Wesly Medical Staffing agency- I have talked to Mt View and Cenntennial hospitals (I am going to live close to these places) and they seem OK places to work-any way let me know-it is nice to have a "heads-up" on these things from fellow nurses out there! Thanks-
  12. Hi RiaRN-I too am moving to Las Vegas in June-2008-wondering if you have had any success from any of your contacts etc. I have talked to an agency that will work with me but I am a little nervous about that since I have never done that before-I am experienced on Med/Surg for a number of years-it would be nice if you would send me any info you have received since I too would like to do the homework prior to moving. Thanks so much
  13. Thanks for the info-I really need all the help I can before I move to Vegas-I just do not want to get into a bad situation-I spoke with a company called Wesley Medical Staffing yesterday and I really liked what they had to say-so I might go that route as a travel nurse first then go to per deam. I can work local and check out hospitals in my area. Again thanks so much-any more help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
  14. Hey Valerie-thanks for the heads up-I am going to move to Las Vegas in June of 2008 and want to travel nurse at different facilities in the Las Vegas metro area. I put my resume out there and have been getting a million calls from recruiters-I have no idea who or what these people are. Thanks again-Are you a travel nurse? Any thoughts or recommendations? This will be the first time I have done travel-always on a Med-surg floor for years as a RN
  15. Hi-just reading the Nevada postings-saw this one on Ogrady Peyton travel nursing in Vegas area. I was just contacted by this company to travel nurse in the Vegas metro area-can anyone lend some info about this company or has anyone out there worked with them before. Thanks
