Looking for LVN or RN evening or weekend school program in Houston

Updated:   Published

Im a school teacher who is interested in becoming a nurse. I will have evenings and weekends available for classes and clinicals (and Summer). I will keep my job as a teacher due to tenure while attending school. Does anyone have any information regarding such a program? I found the one at TWU for weekends however, it's not in houston.

If you're looking for an ADN program Lone Star College's Kingwood branch offers a night & weekend course. I'm not sure about their LVN, but I know for sure they have one for ADN. Not sure how far outside of Houston you can go, but just thought I'd throw my two cents in! :)

HCC has an evening program, as does LSC-Kingwood.

Hello,

I'm in the same boat. I am a teacher and I cannot afford to leave my job. I looked into HCC and Lonestar and I was told that their evening program classes can start as early as 2pm.That being the case it would make it impossible for us to leave and take classes. Are there any online LVN or ADN programs? I do understand that we would have to do clinicals in an actual setting. Just curious about the lecture classes being done online. Thanks for all the help.

Lone Star College - Kingwood has a program called Quest. It is a second degree program. The didactic is online but you have to do labs and clinicals in person. You still have to be flexible in your schedule. They try and schedule labs and clinicals to accomodate those that need weekend clinical or evening labs but nothing is guaranteed. LSC requests certain clinical days but the hospitals hold the cards on that - not the school. There isn't a public college or university in Houston that is going to guarantee to work around your schedule. They are going to ask "how bad do you want to be a nurse." I just went through that. HCC and LSC are the closest that I've found to working around a traditional work schedule.

There are a few places you could check into Chamberlain, University of Phoenix, etc. The thing that turned me off from looking into those were the cost. It is almost triple the cost of a public university.

Hello,

I am a school teacher also; did you ever find out any information about evening nursing programs?
