Looking for LPN school in Colorado

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

I am looking for a LPN program in Colorado. I heard Emily Griffith has a great program but I want to later move into RN program. I also checked in Regis What do you think?

Hi everyone!

I have a question,

Is it true that you need to have a health insurance while you are in the DSON program?

Thank you very much!

Hi:

You do have to get health insurance. I think that is a requirement of some of the clinical locations.

for us we took both pediatric and obstetric in quarter 3 of 7. i heard they were considering revising the order of the rotations and classes, but i doubt they've changed peds yet, if they will at all.

I have a question about the BSN program, I know that it is 22months long. I was wondering if anyone is allowed to take one an extra class etc., to speed up the process??

Thanks:D

Hello, Patoyia:

The program is pretty structured and keeps the whole class going throught the program together. The only exception is when someone has already taken a class -in this case the student can be excused from taking it again (though many in my class go ahead and audit the class). I hope this helps.

Hi,

Can you give an update on your career after graduating from Denver School of Nursing? Has anyone tried for Advanced degrees, such as a Master's, PhD, etc., can you please write about any issues that you may have run into with applications due to accreditation? Thanks.

I can't speak for anyone else as I haven't gone through the program yet, but I can tell you they have plans for a MSN program in the near future at DSoN.

Hi.. I got my acceptance letter for October 08 start date also but I am in the ADN program and then going right back to University of Phoenix for the BSN program.. I just want my degree then can do everything else online for finishing.. Someone mentioned getting a letter of acceptance to someone else ?!?! I had the same thing I got my letter than a girl named Danielle her acceptance letter also !!

As for all the loans we have had a mortgage and sold our home in chicago but just to get a lower rate we are having my parents sign and we will pay each month now so it wont be as high when I graduate. It really is an investment for the future and once we are done with school we can start working !!! YEAH>..

My question is, for the people who live in Denver and work, does Childrens take ADN ??? I worked in an PICU in Chicago for 7 years so I have the nursing assistant experience, but obviously not the RN experience. DSON told me they do not hire ADN and they do not do clinicals there either ?? Just wondering how true that is ?? Also is anyone else going to be in my class ?? A lot are doing the BSN, but I have not heard about ADN ??

Thanks,

Meaghan

Hi Meaghan,

My name is June and I will be in the ADN class for fall 2008. I think we are in the same boat. I plan on getting my RN license and get my BSN from the University of Phoenix. I decided this route because I didn't have time to finish a couple of classes before the October deadline, and wanted to start work right away. Afterall, most hospitals will pay for you to get your BSN.

Well, I hope to see you at orientation on Sept. 25th!

June

Hi everyone!! I haven't posted in a while, I have just been reading and getting as much info as possible. As of today, I have a meeting with jeff on thursday morning to take a tour and get everything all figured out, I am also going for my ADN so if there is anyone doing this currently or starting in october, any info would be great!...like...what I should wear, specific questions to ask?? Thanks!! And good luck to everyone!

p.s. how are the actual classes..tough? lots of hw? Not that im not ready for it, im just a little nervous!

Hi angels&heaven122,

Are you still planning on starting in Oct.2008? I just read your post and will be in the ADN class. Did you get all the requirements turned in yet? I'm excited about orientation. I wonder if you get class schedules that day? Anyways, hope to see you there. June

Did dsn ever get accredited?

The accreditation team was in the school last week. Still in the works - could know within 60 days (for national accreditation).
