Looking to Interview a Nurse for a College Assignment!

Hello everyone! My name is Sameeha and I am a sophomore in college pursuing a career in nursing. I am looking to conduct a short interview with a nurse on this forum through email if possible. I'm sure you all are busy with your careers, but I would truly appreciate it if someone could take just a few moments to answer some questions that I have about your experiences as nurses. Please let me know if anyone is interested, thank you for your time!

Welcome Sameeha. We’re glad you’re here and are always glad to help a student. However, this is the one thing we don’t do for a whole lot of reasons. Generally the questions are too long and involved, the survey requires we identify ourselves and very often this method of getting questions answered violates the spirit of the assignment. The major problem is there is no way you know for sure that the person answering is actually a nurse (there are some trolls and poseurs here) and the general intent of the lesson is to get you to talk face to face with a nurse. This is important for learning how to network. We are happy to assist you with ideas of how to find an actual nurse to talk to (offers of coffee are always a good idea) and are here for you going forward. Sorry if this is disappointing but I didn’t want you to feel like we are ignoring your post. Good luck with your future endeavors and, again, welcome.

Thank you for your response. I completely understand, I would love some tips on how to meet face-to-face with a nurse though!

Sure! If there is a nurse in your PCP's office that's a good start. You can also try your local elementary/middle/high school as they often have nurses. Have you had any clinicals yet?

I’m actually a current health sciences major so I plan on getting a bachelors in that and then applying to accelerated/normal nursing programs afterwards. I could try my local schools but what is a PCP?

Sorry, PCP stands for Primary Care Provider. That is your personal doctor or nurse practitioner. One thing you'll learn about healthcare is that we like to use fancy terms for simple things! ?

You could also reach out to a professor at the nursing school. Most of them have an RN. It could be another option.
