The nursing interview process is vital to the nursing process. The assessment in the face to face interview is a vital part of the admission assessment and treatment plan of your patients. Many programs do not feel an online interview fulfills this requirement. They want you to got out of your comfort zone and do face to face interviews. When you are caring for a patient you need to learn to be comfortable with asking a complete stranger very intimate questions...you need to establish trust and an open line of communication. There is much information that is obtained in body language and eye contact.

Getting you to go outside your comfort zone....is the purpose of this assignment. I remember this assignment....from 36 years ago. Call a local school nurse....make an appointment with you PCP's nurse or NP. Go to a local urgent care/CVS minute clinic.

I wish you the best in school....I will help with any homework......but interviews because it is so important to you becoming a good nurse to learn how to perform face to face interviews....and the internet doesn't provide that to you.

Thank you for your reply :) I agree face to face is a very imoportant aspect of the nursing process. In fact, I prefer a face to face interview. It is way more personal. I have already interviewed three nurses in person; a MICU nurse, an orthopedic nurse, as well as a med-surg charge nurse. We are actually only required to interview a single nurse of our choice. I was surprised in the different views on the topics, which got my curiosity going to learn more. Nursing houses a variety of styles, opinions, and fields. I am still trying to find where I want/do to fit in. I better hurry up because this is my last semeter:)

I'm glad you took the initiative....that makes me feel good. That and, although I believe most of us here are nurses, this is the internet and you never know who is on the other side of that key board. You will find your niche eventually. My path started very different....I wanted straight pedi and I had a child code one night....changd my career path all together.

Unfortunately....with the job market as poor as it is.....you will be looking for a position and not necessarily the one you want.

I wish you the very best!

One thing you might check is the amazingly long list of nursing specialization certifications there are.

Professional organizations or certifying boards issue voluntary certification in many of these specialties. Click on each to learn more.
