Hello!
So here is my long story short:
I just moved to Jacksonville and I want to start school for nursing. I graduated with my Associates of Arts (for psychology) back in NJ. However, this doesn't really help me because it doesn't have many of the preques required for nursing. So I understand that I'll basically be starting from square one. I am having trouble finding a school to apply to ( I looked into Chamberlain and didn't feel it was the right place for me). I was looking into Jersey College of Jacksonville because they have classes that start relatively soon, but they are no accredited by acen nor ccne. Would this mean that I could not transfer to another nursing school, take the test or even find a job in the nursing field?
I greatly appreciate any help and guidance that anyone could give me. Thank you

If they are not accredited I would not waste my money. Many companies require that you have graduated from a CCNE or NLNAC accredited school in order to even consider you for an interview.
Just my 2 cents

Apply to our local community college FSCJ. Get your prereqs done there. Or St. John's River State College

i agree. the major schools you should look into would be fscj, sjrcc, UNF,JU. they all will lead to employment once graduated. other schools like dade medical wont prepare you well for the nclex and just cause you problems with getting employed and transferring. and they are way to expensive for what you get in return. just look at the NCLEX part of this site and see how many people went to start up schools or non accredited schools who have trouble passing the NCLEX. or the jobs section where people have hard times finding employment due to the private fly by night school they picked. I mean at the end of the day you have to do what you have to do in order to become a RN. but remember it can come at a price.

Although they aren't accredited by CCNE or NLNAC they are approved by the BON. JU doesn't have regulations as to what school you come from. Also their are many online school who have BSN MSN programs. That's what made me choose jersey college and starting next month. If you pass the NCLEX or get a job to me is on the nurse not the school I feel...

If the school isn't CCNE or NLNAC accredited, then you won't even be allowed to sit for the NCLEX. Don't waste your money, I know some people who went to schools who weren't accredited and now they have major student loan debt, no valuable college education and no way to get a job
That's false. You can see anything you want to know (accreditation/approval status, NCLEX pass rates) on your states BON site.
