Looking to get into research nursing

Published

Hello I currently work in a rehab place and would like to do something beyond bedside and I'm interested in research .i have a BSN.I barely have 5 months of experience. Should I stick with it for a year in order to have an opportunity? What courses can I take to make myself more marketable ,since I have no experience in research? I was looking at the Certcr program offered by the clinical institute of America. Is this a good course to take ...since I'm not eligible to enroll in socra or acrp programs? I live in connecticut but it doesn't seem like there are a lot of opportunities. I would like to move to Florida but I would be willing to go out of state somewhere else.Does anyone know any institutions that will take people without research experience ?

You definitely need to stick it out where you are at and get that one year of nursing under your belt. There are clinical research programs (master's degree) where you can start now and learn all about research. You can also go to:

Association of Clinical Research Professionals - Launching Your Career

You can join ACRP before being certified. They have a wealth of info on their web site. For now, focus on getting that basic nursing experience under your belt- be patient and stick it out. Ten years from now, you'll be glad that you did. Good Luck!
