Looking for CNA Advice, Chester County PA

Published

Hi everyone,

I am in the process of taking pre-reqs and trying desperately to get accepted into a local RN program. I need to work part-time while in school and really would like to get into the industry to start getting experience. I have quickly learned that you have to have SOME sort of training or experience before they let you anywhere near a patient (makes sense). I would really prefer to work in a hospital as opposed to a nursing home. Can anyone offer advice as to what types of jobs are out there for CNA's in the hospital environment, and what kind of range I would be looking as far as an hourly wage goes. I know I will not be making millions, but I do have two kids I need to provide for. Also, what about agencies like Bayada?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I graduated from Brandywine School of Nursing last May. I also have 2 kids and I worked part time all through school. I worked at TelHai in Honeybrook as a CNA on the weekends. They also helped me with tuition. It was very hard and yes I went to school fulltime during the week and worked 24hr on the weekends. Not much family time. But now I am a RN and work nite shift at Lancaster General. I would look at nursing homes but you will have to become a CNA. I am not sure if TelHai is still having CNA classes. Or call Brandywine Hosp and see if they are hiring aides. I know Lancaster General is hiring PTCA's no need for certification but it is a long drive and I am not sure what there schedules are like. Good luck
