Lookin' for some excitement ;)

I am 31. I have 3 kids that are no longer babies. I have a BSN.

I have started the application process for an online FNP program.

I became a nurse because I wanted to help people of course, but I also knew I'd not be satisfied coming and going with a 9-5...err, 7-7 job day in and day out. I want adventure.

What would you recommend? Some things that have crossed my mind are military (I really don't think I could be away from my kids for that long though,) Indian health service, maybe National Guard? I am really interested in humanitarian type missions. Perhaps disaster response. Is there any way to get into that kind of thing without a military background?

What about wilderness medicine, i.e, how does one get to be the nurse at base camp at say, Mt Everest? Well, not there specifically but how would I go about looking for a job of that sort? What is it even called?

What IS that thing? A PT belt?

Thanks yeah I realize a camp nurse...or whatever you'd call it is not humanitarian. I just want to do some of both! The Indian health service sounds interesting. I looked a little at the CC of the public health service, the seem to be at a standstill right now, due to the new heath care legislation. Though I am not in a huge hurry or anything.

I'm sorry if I offended you by suggesting the military would be for some adventure. To me it would be though.

My husband is AD Army. I'm mildly jealous of him some days.

No no - not offended (I think you're talking to me!!)!!! Sorry if you thought I was!!

You never know what some folks are thinking...you know?:D:smokin:
