I am looking for some opinions on my job situation here..
I have been employed at a supermarket for 8 years this January. It was my first job and I started in high school.
I recently got my first job at a hospital (per diem) in a psych ER in september and I'm not really loving it so I've been keeping my options open. I have been applying at other hospitals for peds, L&D, maternity, NICU, and newborn nursery positions as well as looking for internal postings for L&D/maternity at my current hospital. As you can see I really want to get into peds.
I recently took a substitute school nurse position to hopefully get some peds experience.
I only work 1, maybe 2 shifts a week at the hospital, a few times a month at the school, and weekends only at the supermarket.
A former professor of mine just posted on FB about a open position at a pediatricians office in my area. Both full and part time positions open, no experience necessary. I'm interested in part time. This same professor posted on FB about the sub nurse position that I applied for and got.
I really want to apply for this office job for both the experience and more reliable schedule, but I don't want my resume to be a mess of a bunch of random jobs that I have no real longevity at.
my current resume lists the hospital job and sub nurse job. I took the supermarket job off but if I apply I'm tempted to put it back on to show that I've been in the work force since I was 15.
Should I work with what I have and forgo this opening or go for it? If I were to be hired at the office I would quit the grocery store and stick out the rest of the school year as a sub nurse and maybe continue next school year if I can handle it.
thanks!
