how to look for a job while pregnant

Would appreciate your advice & your experience on how to look for an RN position (partime, maybe 10hrs. or so per week) while pregnant (now I am in 31st week)... I am a Korean nurse, looking for a position in the US for the first time.

Basically, I am wondering if I should go ahead and interview now and even do an orientation and then ask for some time off for delivery (would this be acceptable to a hospital?)... or should I wait until after delivery to begin interviewing... How long would it take from the time of interview to 1st day on the job?

Basically, my concern is that I may have to wait too long after delivery if I do not do some interviewing now...

Thx. much!

Since you are so far along I would wait and apply after you have the baby. Usually it isn't long before being hired and starting the job. You should take a few weeks to enjoy your new baby and then start looking. Even if you started orientation now it would probably get interrrupted.

i agree; maybe you could call around now to see what's available & research your options; then when you're all rested up after delivery (hmmm)you'll be all set to go! good luck with both!

I agree with everyone else. You've only got 9 weeks left in your pregnancy and I think it would be a deterrant to any hospital to hire someone that's going to go on a medical leave in just 2 months. I've been at my job for 9 months now and i want to start trying for another baby this summer and with that i'm worried about taking a leave so soon (I'd be here less than 2 years at delivery).
