Long week, and I worked only 2 days!

Hi everyone! Just need to take a few minutes to vent...

My Aunt, basically my mother-in-law, died Tuesday afternoon of lung CA. Long story short, diagnosed in the last 6 months, rapid deterioration over less than one week, (probably due to brain mets-- rapid growing stuff) and we were with her when she died. I was grateful for that, as she had a non-hospital DNR, and I got to assist in her post-mortem care.

I must give kudos to the home care nurse that took care of her. 18 yrs. experience, and it was her first home death. She did more short-term patients, and my Aunt wouldn't go for hospice care... I know this was a little out of your comfort zone, but you were gracious, kind, comforting and calm always-- no matter what. Thanks Mary, (name changed), you were amazing.

A little stressful though, as she was unsure of who to call. Long story short, here comes the PD, FD and 2 EMS rigs full-tilt boogie, ready to go, (my friends that I know...) and WHERE's the DNR?!? Found, but not in-hand upon arrival of the various crews, but I digress...

Just one ER nurse, wanting to take the time to thank a home care nurse... You may say you could never do what I do, but damn, girlfriend, I could never do what you do either.
