Creating a thread for lbcc and fall 2024 application cycle. My first time applying, do they go by science GPA or overall? Seeing conflicting information.

Chuckq4yoo I asked Marc if he could tell me if the alternates on the list are ranked or selected by lottery and he wouldnt give info in an email. he said it would be discussed at a zoom meeting in June if you were invited.

Appreciate that. I did ask and he mentioned the same thing about everything being addressed in the upcoming meeting. It's just so long from now I'm getting anxious LOL.
Chuckq4yoo agreed June 11 is such a far away zoom date from an April decision sendout I was like why can you not tell us any information right now? curious when the deadline is for confirming acceptance if you did get a spot...................

I feel like I've been able to get some info to help reduce my worry but not really LOL. Let's just hope that many decline their provisional offer and go somewhere else.
I did get an email from the director and she said that they took in twice as many alternates for this cohort. 😕 Definitely will be more comp to be selected to replace. She also said that just like how the selected individuals were taken in (2.5-3, 3-3.5, 3.5-4.0 Science GPA) that's how alternates will replace. For example, if a provisionally accepted student is within the 3.5-4.0GPA and declines or does not pass the TEAS exam (~May 28th, 2024), then the dept. will replace them with an alternate that's also within that GPA range. Which I think sucks cause if this range doesn't have any drops then no alternates in this range won't be selected 😞 but I hope to be wrong!
@Chuckq4yoo so helpful thank you! I landed in the 3.5-4.0 range they take 50% of applicants from but that doesn't mean anything at the point I guess...................... fingers crossed since I had kind of a shitty application cycle this round. Im fully prepared for continuing to up my non science GPA. reapplying for the Summer cycle and Fall cycle for lots of ADN/BSN programs. shitty but the way it goes sometimes. all it takes is 1 acceptance! rooting for you!

Good luck everyone.
I finally got my rejection email on April 13th. I was sad and it seemed far too late to receive the rejection email, but there it was. I know of another person who also got rejected very late in the process. I was hoping for the best when I did not hear from the administrators after a few weeks, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.
The very first time I took Anatomy I got a B. It was back when I wasn't 100 percent sure of becoming a nurse. I took Anatomy again last semester and received an A. So basically I had an A in Microbiology, A in Physiology and my recent A in Anatomy. I still got rejected. Oh, well. I'm leaving this little story here so others can read about different experiences.
Congratulations to everyone who got in. LBCC is a good school.
Good luck to all of us! Keep going.

Does anyone have an idea of what time classes start and if the students go on Summer break?

Not sure yet, but I'm sure we will be given more info and the chance to ask questions about the program on June 7th when we meet.
Also, does anyone want to make a fb group for the cohort?
I am interested in joining the facebook group, but someone has to make it.

You're good bro! It's tough at LBCC cause of the lottery system. I know you'll be able to get into a program elsewhere or hopefully here. Just keep going!

I attended their info session a few days ago and they're accepting just a few people because they have limited clinical sites. Few clinical sites=few students. They're also making their standards harder to get in because of this. this is the only school I have seen that has their application windows open for only 4 days. there are other greater schools out there.

Was this for the Fall 2024 cohort or for the cohorts after? Did they specify how many students were now going to be selected? What standards did they mention were going to change?
