Lonestar 2015 fall hopefuls

Published

Hi everyone! Has anyone applied for the fall yet? I'm studying for my HESI and will be applying soon!

I was accepted into the Tomball program with a 7.29.

Does anyone know of a Facebook group being formed yet?

Congrats to everyone who got accepted!! I am a current Montgomery nursing student. Can't believe I was in your shoes a year ago :) if you have questions I'd be happy to answer them. Can't wait to meet all the Montgomery transition students!

How was your first year? Any tips or advice?

Biggest piece of advice: be flexible. Our year was the first they changed to front load all the labs(skills) and it was ROUGH to say the least lol. Plus side is the whole second year you won't have a lab and will only have lecture and clinical. I have kept really good grades so far but I think you need to find the right way to study and each person is different. They also changed the cut off grade starting this semester to a 75 so if u don't make that you don't continue on. The Saunders NCLEX book is a good review for tests. I work at a hospital so working and school is doable but I am married with no kids.

And when I say working I mean I do one to two 12hr shifts max and that means a lot of time management lol

I am about to look for a job at a hospital. I am wanting to work fri and sat nights while in school just for experience. Know if you guys are hiring? :) how much homework do they give? Are there a lot of assignments or mostly reading? How much studying do you do? Every night?

I'm sure we are always hiring lol st Lukes the woodlands work prn and you get to pick your own shifts. There are a lot of readings for each test but I like to read so I don't mind doing them. You will learn which teachers you can focus on the powerpoints and be fine or others you may need to teach yourself a little more. Modules are done through evolve for lab and they are not hard just don't leave them to the last minute bc some take a lot longer than you would think. Our first semester besides lecture tests every other Monday we had a group culture project, a therapeutic communication assignment, and a care plan. You have one clinical day a week we did Wednesday or Thursday. I don't study everyday I have been luckily enough to do well and only study on weekends. Not everyone is like that tho.

When you got hired at st.lukes did you have prior experience? Did you just apply online?

Okkkk so has anyone paid for their certified background? I already paid for the drug test .... That was simple... I'm on the site to set up the background and the site is just on loop! No matter what I do it

Just refreshes back to the main page... Is the site just down and I should try later? Anyone else have this problem?

Hmm I clicked on myprofile just to see if it would take me off the main page and it said our services are currently unavailable, we are making enhancements to our system. Well, at least it isn't me being technologically dumb ;)

does anyone know hoe to log on to the certified profile.com website? Do you enter the code provided then are automatically logged in? Or you have to create an account? If so, I did not see any tab for a sign up???????????? PLz help.

Thanks,
