Hey I was wondering if anyone else has started a post on Fall 2017 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls... & If not then let's get this one going!
I took pharmacology class already this past fall at North Harris. It was a lot of work and a lot of medications to learn. I think the math portion of it is important and that was easy. I ended up with an 86 in the class. I hope I don't have to retake that class again. I am ok with a B in that class. I am trying to keep a part time job though. I sure do not want to do a full time job because I want to do my best in the nursing classes if I get in.
Have any of you guys taken Pharmacology for the nursing program at Lonestar? Will any of you guys be working if admitted to the program? Is it recommended that you not work?
Im taking it online right now through lonestar tomball. It's an 8 week accelerated course. Very fast paced I have to study daily, but I didn't want to have to do it during the nursing program which is why I opted to take it now. I can't imagine taking it with a full load of nursing. My friend who completed the RN program at cy fair said many people failed out bc they didn't take pharm before hand. So if you can take it beforehand do!
I will be taking pharmacology this summer so looking forward to that. Also yeah it'll be very hard to keep up with all of the studying, long lab hours, and work.. with the program going so fast each semester and having so much to cover, its probably better to not work, but if necessary then only part time!!
If you can't remember just know the MATH portion. You need that. I will do a self refresher. I did hear by the teacher that I took it with that a lot of nursing students fail because they forget the math portion and do not know how to calculate medications even though they had been doing well on everything else.
Oh wow I had no idea this class is that important to where you can fail out of the program if you dont do well and dont remember the concepts! Thanks for the heads up guys! Will be sure to memorize! Yeah I am taking the 3 month course in the summer as well! It is actually recommend you take pharmacology the summer before starting so it'll be perfect! And now I know why that is recommended!
