Hey everyone I was starting a thread for all the fall 16 hopefuls for all the campus's at lonestar!

I take my hesi feb 18 and nervous doesn't even begin to describe my feelings!!!! Lol, I think I'll be okay on the math portion, it's the grammar and a&p that are causing my sleepless nights!!! Predicates, me or I, prepositional adjectives? Whaaat?? Lol and then a&p because there's soooo much and you have noooo clue what to focus on. I'm a bundle of nerves to say the very least lol

How about yall?!

My first choice is going to be kingwood, then maybe cyfair or north harris, I haven't decided yet, I want to get this test out of the way first!!

And can ya'll believe hcc closed their program down this year..... I was upset about that that was my first pick!

How tough are the classes if you do not mind me asking? How often you had to take exams??? thank u so much for sharing the info

Nothing today so far agh!!!!! I am tired of waiting; loosing patience here :nailbiting::madface:

I have a feeling we might hear from them Thursday..

I have a feeling we might hear from them Thursday..

Me too, I feel like they may make us wait until the end of the week :/

We have unit exams every other week, so about 7 exams, then the final, you have the lecture course, lab course, and clinical course. There is 2 lecture days per week. It the fist week your there almost everyday, you have lab once a week and have a quiz over the skill every weekend. Clinical consists of 645 to 5hour days and you have to complete about a 10 page clinical log which consists of the patient that you chose for the week, this take about 3-8 hours depending on how you work. Sometime during the summer, They are gonna send you an initial reading list to get ahead of unit 1 "the role of the nurse" so make sure you guys get a head start at the material just to set the tone for the semester. Also, knowing the material material is NOT ENOUGH, you have to be able to put it into practice, bc the exams are not knowledge based, they are critical thinking based, we lost a lot of bright, smart ppl the 1st semester. The workload is intense but doable, I have 2 kiddos and married, I'm not the most dedicated student, so I do enjoy family time on the weekends so I like to get a lot done during the week.

Story for the information overload, I just want you guys to get a heads up, bc I did t really know anything until orientation, and thoughout my 1st semester.

Thank you very much for the information!!

Thank you sooooo much for sharing Jasmpena. Very much appreciate ur info. I too have a family three kids and a husband. Thanks a bunch again. Do u know if the books r going to be same as last year? Thx a million.

No problem guys, the books may be the same as last year, they changed our books from the previous year to the newer editions. When I bought my books I bought a mixture of both older and newer but the books are pretty much the same just different pages, so it gets annoying when they send a reading list and I have to search for the pages in my older books. But I saved some money too so it just depends. I spend maybe 600 on books. But you don't gotta buy books ever again for the entire program so that's a plus.

Jasmpena! You're so awesome for sharing all this great information. I think a handful of us are married or have families. Thank you for the sneak peak and encouraging words. you rock!!!!!

Its not a problem at all, I'm glad I could help! I'm currently studying hard, and by hard I mean, building forts for my 3 year old and practicing Foley catheter skills lol let me know if you guys have any more questions!

Right, u are awsome for sharing this valuable info with us. :cat:
