Hi, everyone...

Has any of you attended Loma Linda or Chaffey Collge schools of nursing? I am wondering which insitution is better?

Also, is there a quicker way of doing prereqs? I have to take pre-algebra then elementary algebra than chemistry then microbiology as well as anatomy and physiology...Have any of you attended colleges where the prereqs are easier to take?

Andrea

Other than pre-algebra, that's pretty much the same courses you have to take to get into any nursing school.

Chaffey is going to cost you a lot less than Loma Linda, which is private. Also, I believe that Loma Linda requires additional religious courses that state schools like Chaffey don't make you take.

I don't attend Chaffey but I know a few people who do and some that have transferred to my school. They're pretty anal about certain things like ... if you're late twice, you're kicked out of the program. I hear they can be pretty tough on students with things like whether you're clinical uniform meets their standards, etc.

On the other hand, there's one girl in my class that transferred from Chaffey and she says tests are a lot tougher at my school than Chaffey's. All programs have their good points and bad points.

Hi, Lizz...

Do you mind if I ask which school do you attend? Thanks...

BTW, anality...LOL...doesn't bother me...I just graduated last year from the psychiatric technician program at Mt. San Antonio College and hey, there were rules upon rules to complete objectives...but....that doesn't bother me...soooooo...Loma Linda is expensive, ok...since I do have enormous amount of units (over 130) I was thinking of transferring to a 4-yr college for a BSN...do you know anything about CSUSB???

I haven't looked at that for a long time but, last time I checked they wanted you to take biochemistry and organic. It was optional but, from what I understood, you pretty much had to take it to have any chance of getting in. However, I also heard they weren't accepting any new applications because they had so many.

But, again, my info is very old. You really should check with the schools and get first hand info on all of this. I think, for example, that Chaffey just raised their GPA criteria to 3.0 for acceptance ... but I'm not sure.

FYI: Loma Linda is a Seventh-Day Adventist College, in case you didn't know. They are vegetarian and go to church on Saturday, which is their Sabbath.

Loma Linda... great nursing program but expensive. I graduated there in '96 and my problem was the required religion and being part of the "flock"...

If you live there.... I'm sorry.

Hey PT:

I attened Chaffey CNA and Acute Care tech course. Chaffey has the best nursing instructors and want to help you. They are strict, but it's because the state mandates you complete certain hours. Would you want a nurse that missed the day of inserting needles -- joke. Anyhow, I got accepted to LVN this summer. Going to school is like a job. You need to be prepared with your equipment and have proper attire. Constantly being tardy or repeaters are just a disruption to class. In general, Chaffey has excellent nursing instructors.
