LPN New Grad Pay Rates in Kansas City area?
No offense but how about $70,000 for 3 years at Loma Linda University in California? Thats how much was several years ago... Those chapel units where very expensive, you know. I'm talking about a BSN program. Ten years and I'm still paying for it... If you are planing to pay so much, why not an RN program?

How is MO???
I plotted into Google Earth the hospitals in MO and I can see that next to the University Hospital, thare are two other hospitals; Children's, and a VA. Anyway, the whole area is soooo green. Does it snows in the winter there or is dry and cold? I appreciate your comments so far, thank you!

How is MO???
I agree with you, in California there are too many people chasing the same thing... I appreciate your comments! I have more questions: since there was a recent storm in Missouri, there is such a thing like a "tornado alley" in Missouri? What would be a city where there is more than one hospital and no sprawling? More rural feel, less Walmarts and chain stores. I have nothing against them but I do feel there is a direct relationship betwen the megastores and less local business. And one more thing, how humid is in the summer there? There are any areas that are cool (temperature wise)? I know, too many questions and I can find some of these answers on other sites also but I want a "nurse" oppinion... you know, 12 hours of night shift, driving home in traffic, etc.

How is MO???
Living in California for 16 years and traveling as an ER nurse along the West coast for one year now. I had enough of Cali... and West coast! Me and my wife (both of us RN's) where thinking about Missouri. We drove through when we went to my in laws in Pennsylvania. We fell in love with it. We want to start a new life in that part of the country. How is it there as a nurse? I do ER and my best half is a dialysis and PD RN. What areas do you recomend in the state? We like it in a city but we prefer a rural setting also. I heard Ozarks are magnificent... any advice? I know, we are from Cali and have a "different" mentality... as some local Washingtonians said to me once. We promise that we are not going to complain about anything, if we move there... Can somebody give me an advice?

Anybody work at, or heard anything about, these hospitals?
I just finished an assignment at Valley General in Monroe.... what an experience! I usually say things the way they are and I like it! I'm a California nurse with "hood experience"... UCI ER, UCSD ER, Pomona, HB, etc. The ER in VG Monroe was small but staffed with great, helpful nurses; Docs that are working there are also in Providence, in Everet. You have a new Doc in ER every day... The town is small so every body knows every body but hey, is not like you're working in Barby World ( read Newport Beach, CA). Good luck to you!

Thank you all, it's in my plan to be there this summer.... I'm not worried about winters. How are the schools there? We have 2 little girls! I'm working nights now but thanks a lot to all of you.

What Virginia towns/cities do you recommend working in and why?
My wife wants to move to Virginia this summer (we are in Cali.) and I'm concerned about the "safety" thing from previous posts, in Richmond. Why is that? We can't even buy a shack in Orange County, CA with $400K! I do ER and she does dialysis; we are both RNs. Can you recomend any areas? We do not have family or friends in Virginia.

Richmond VA salary questions
Oh nooo.... $14-15? I'm in California and a new grad does like $25-27! How much for an experienced nurse? $48 before taxes (1/3 of your pay aprox.) How about Virginia? My wife wants to move there, she's from PA.

Loma Linda or Chaffey College?
Loma Linda... great nursing program but expensive. I graduated there in '96 and my problem was the required religion and being part of the "flock"... If you live there.... I'm sorry.
