Local IC Nursing question.

Nurses Entrepreneurs

I was wondering about becoming my own IC nurse. I have an extensive background in corrections and have looked into a few per diem registery jobs in my area. The money would be good, But if I can just contract myself instead of having a middle man (Agency), I am wondering if They would go for something like this. I have never done agency nursing before and really can't because I am very happy with my current job, but I am looking for something on the side. I think I can provide the same service for more then what an agency would offer and a lot less then what an agency charges. How do I go about this, I assume I just get some insurance, written contracts( and how may I find these?), and speak with an HR department. I am just wondering how sucessful you can be as an IC or do most companies choose agency nurses. What can I expect and how much sucess have some had in the past?

Have you found any info about this subject. If so would you pass it on cause I was wondering the same thing

You might want to check out the thread entitled, "Agency/Registry that work with independent contractors." It has information and advice on how to go about becoming an independent contractor and how to find information.

My question was in reference to working all alone as an IC, No agency involved. I just found out that today we are useing an agency nurse and they are billing us $65.00/hr for this nurse and only paying that nurse $35.00/hr. I would want that $65/hr, Not have an agency make 30/hr off of me while I do all the work. So my main question is how do you as an IC get Contracts without agency help. I can probable sell my self, But who do I talk to to establish a contract when wanting to work as an IC, Do I call the HR department and give them my services, do I talk to a D.O.N., this is all I really want to know.
