I would like to ask whether a license as a registered nurse in the philippines is required to take the California NCLEX exam? Your reply would be very much appreciated.

I suggest a good read in this forum and the Philippine forum as this has been asked a few times recently. Plus other issues to be aware of ie immigration
Firstly you are not applying for NCLEX exam but to be a RN in the US of which NCLEX is part of that process.
Secondly we do not recommend Ca for initial licensure as you have to wait min of 4 weeks for results and many post states takes longer and only through snail mail (results will not be on the website without SSN). You will not get a license but a letter stating you pass. You will not get your license until you provide a SSN within 3 years and you can not get a SSN until in the US with a valid work visa and due to current retrogression you are looking at over 5 years if lucky before you get to that stage.
Lastly I suggest checking with Ca about local license themselves as there has been talk of local license being required but Ca have had a few weather issues and website may not be up to date.
