Loans- How much were your CRNA school loans?

Published

Title pretty much says it all. I am curious to know about how much CRNA school cost you/is costing you. It would be great if you could give a basic cost for school enrollment(and what school you went to), and if you used loans to "servive" as well(meaning, did you pay for rent, food, etc. with the loan, or did you work to support those needs?)

Thanks!

You can't work. Don't even think about it. I'm in my first semester and the people who thought they could work just one shift a week fell behind right away and had to quit. You might be able to work a few shifts between semesters, but that would be about it.

I start 8/08 at TCU. So far I've applied for $20,500 from FAFSA and have borrowed $10,000 from a private lender, plus put down a $1500 cash deposit for a grand total of $32,000 for the fall & spring semesters. And I am only borrowing tuition money, no cost of living loans. Don't even want to think about the remainder of the loans I need.....

Case Western in Cleveland is about 1350$ per credit hour. First and second semester combined tuition- 24,000$, just tuition alone. By the time most are done, avg is 100,000$. Sounds great doesn't it?!?!? All worth it in the end!! :)

Kaiser...19K for 2 years, books included...can't beat it! Only thing that sucks is driving in Los Angeles traffic.

it's not necessarily true that you can't work. i'm in my first year and have had no problem working once or twice a week. i understand that it may change in the future, but so far there has not been an issue.

Are there any other schools out there which are as affordable as Kaiser?

Aren't you obligated to kaiser for a while after you graduate though? Did you work there before school or does Kaiser have a teaching institution totally separate from its hospital/work section?

Thanks for the replies. Much appriciated.

Hi there- I am starting this fall at FIU in Miami. The total tuition will probably be less than 30,000. Not too bad. But, I would caution potential students to pick a school that fits them acedemically versus just based on tuition. There are a lot of things to consider when picking a CRNA school.

Kaiser is linked with Cal State University Fullerton...(your degree is actually from CSUF). No you are not obligated in anyway to work for Kaiser upon graduation, although many grads do. Your clinical roatations are at UCLA, Naval Hospital San Diego, Loma Linda Univ Hosp, etc...in addition to several Kaiser facilities.... good diversity of clinical experiences.
