Ok so one big financial inventive for me (and I am sure others) joining the AF or any military branch is the loan repayment, but I am really confused about what I have heard, been told and read about it.
I have been told that there is loan repayment and a bonus (and seen the official document stating so) for those joining FY2010...but...
Are we supposed to see in our paperwork if we will FOR SURE get the repayment or not before we commission (as well as a bonus)? All I have signed so far is that if it is offered I will take it...
My recruiter said bring promissory notes/loan statements to COT, but they don't actually do anything until you get to your permanent duty station, which for me will be after COT and NTP (= more interest)!
Is it "only if funds are available"? I read someone commented that you still have to apply for the loan repayment after we get to our permanent duty station?
What the he11 :angryfire is the real deal??? I have been accepted but am waiting for orders/commissioning!!

The only agreement I signed when I commissioned was that I agreed to take the loan repayment (and it was a small blurb inserted into a large document with lots of other small blurbs!) There was not a separate form from what I remember. Thus my small breakdown when I got to my duty station because I hadn't heard from anyone about payment. When I finally did talk to the coordinator at Wright-Patterson things went relatively quickly. If you agreed to take the loan repayment and signed the document blurb then don't worry about having to apply for it when you get to your base. Just stay on top of things because paperwork gets lost, people say they couldn't track you down, etc.
I would take your loan documents to COT just in case. I say that because the POC at Wright-Patt said she was trying to contact me the whole time I was a COT....she was using the wrong email address but that's beside the point. I'd have the documents handy just in case they try to contact you so that you can get the ball rolling while you are there instead of having to run around last minute, as was my case.
