LNC, where to start?

I have been a nurse for 4 years and im looking into the legal nurse consulting field for a new change. I have done some search and found out about Vickie Milazzo Institute but it is expensive and Im not sure if is going to be very helpful. I also went to the AALNC website and they are offering a program online. I got some information on the Kaplan University LNC program as well. I would like to get some advice on where to start to prepare myself to work as a LNC.

For more information about Legal Nursing, be sure to read the stickies posted at the top of this forum. They contain some very valueable information re. legal nursing.

I would be glad to answer questions you may have. Although not required, I feel it is important to get LNC training from a reputable source. You are looking in the right direction. There are many members here who have received training from the various programs you have sited.

I know that Essex County College now gives the certification. It does take longer but its a reputable school, and I think that you'd be more well rounded with information because of the required classes. You take some classes that the legal professionals that you will be working with have taken.

Exxex County College offers a certificate program as a Legal Nurse. This is not the same as receiving certification as an LNC. Once the RN completes the approximately year-long course, they will be awarded a certificate of completion.
