Beautiful sunshine, white sandy beaches, we have the top 10 beaches here on the gold coast, just under an hour's drive from brisbane. Queensland is beautiful, I've lived here for just over 14 years. I am oringinally from Hong Kong. Easy living, next to no traffic, friendly people. Hope it helps.

I would also like very much to do Nursing in Brisbane. It looks like such a beautiful modern city with an almost perfect climate. I am from the US. I hear that Nurses make a bit less there. I have 3 questions?
1 Is a nursing salary adequate to enjoy life in Brisbane and live near CBD.
2 Do most nurses work 8 10 or 12 hour shifts.
3 Are Male nurses still looked down upon. ( I heard they call male nurses (Mr. Sister) I'm not sure if thats derogatory or not.

Hello there,
I cant answer as to whether or not Australian nurses earn more or less than in the US but I think I can answer the other questions:
1. Yes, salary is adequate. I have a house in the CBD and manage well.
2. Certainly the nurses in my ward and hospital work 8 or 9 hour shifts.
3. Where did you get the idea that male nurses are looked down upon? I think you need to lose this thought immediately . In my ward, some of the most experienced and friendly nurses ARE the male nurses .... never heard of Mr Sister, but knowing the Aussie humour, it would be said in good fun for the most part (but still not necessarily welcome) .....
See ya!
the "friendly people" reassured me that i'll do fine when i move there. lol. i hope there's no discrimination there. (i don't mean to offend anyone by that statement)
i would certainly love to move to brisbane.
