Hey everyone!
Didnt see a thread for LIU Brooklyn Campus for the Spring 2019 start. Feeling a little lost with everything. So I just wanted to see if there are other future LIU nursing students entering in the Spring as well! Just made my schedule today, hasn't hit me yet that I will be starting the nursing program but super excited !!! Lol

I was also hoping to get some advice from you ladies. My transcripts is a bit hard to look at:( I had some personal issues that are now well taken care of and my Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semester grades are a much better! These personal issue really affected my life to the point where no matter how hard I tried I was just barley passing or withdrawing from courses. I have great LOR's available from professors and health care workers on my improvement and capabilities. I just feel because my transcript is bit scary that I have lost my chances of being offered a seat. I know I am more than capable and have worked hard to get better grades. These two last semesters I have pulled in A's to B's and nothing lower! I just don't want to be punished fore the hardships I went through, but be given the chance for the progress and improvement I have made!
Hey, honestly I had a different experience with a school problem but what I ended up doing for me is explaining the situation so you might have to as well. The only thing about you that is different is the many withdrawals and just passing grades. The school might see that as there’s a chance that that pattern would continue considering because you said it was personal issues but I also don’t know the the details of the personal issues and im also not the person reviewing your application so honestly I wouldn’t be able to advise you very well. But I do believe you should have a statement somewhere explaining yourself!

Sadly, I'm looking into transferring to LIU nursing program. City Tech idk if you guys know has a bad rep, people fail like dead flies and the program is really aimed for you to fail. So if any brothers or sisters in here please message me about like what classes I need to complete to start clinicals asap or any insight into the program such as Kaplan, Hesi, ATI so I know what to prepare for since I already have experience with nursing school! Thanks in advance.
Hi, I am also City Tech student, and I am planning to attend LIU nursing program. I would like to know if you already in the program, and how do you like LIU compare to City Tech. Please let me know. Thanks

I'm just looking for a little help navigating LIU Nursing. I'm staring in Fall 2019 and am missing two classes which includes my clinicals. any advice that you can give me going in would be greatly appreciated. thanks
hey, when did you hear you got in for the fall! The person who was in charge of my application no longer works for them anymore and the one thing I did not have was chemistry and he told me not to worry about it especially since I could not transfer anymore credits in...I finally got a hold of another person who is now in charge of my application and he said to try to take chemistry (which is impossible since I can't transfer in anymore credits even though he said otherwise and just credits somewhere else won't transfer in, which ultimately means I would have to repeat something...the other issue on that is they finally got back to me soo late that I am definitely unable to register in a chemistry summer class now)...I guess I am curious on how long it took them to review your application because right now it feels like they are putting me on the back burner.

When did you apply for their program? Have you tried actually visiting their admission office on campus? You'll probably get an answer a lot faster if you give them a visit : )

Sorry for the late reply, when I tried answering this the link didn’t load and then I forgot about it lol...so I’ve spoken to them on the phone and I applied back in February. I guess I can attempt to make a trip other there, the issue is I’m on Long Island so it’s something I need to plan to make

I've also applied around Feb too and got accepted last month. Are you missing chem? I think if you're missing chem, you def have to take chem before they're able to admit you into their program sadly.
THats the thing, the person in charge of my application knew that and told me that that’s not a problem, then when I reached out to him about my remaining grades he wanted he said he no longer works for the admissions department and I had to call the school and they told me to send my grades to a different person, they never got back to me until a week and a half later and we were already in June. The new person in charge said it would increase my chances to get in but he didn’t give a definite answer on that (like at least saying yes you’ll get in if you get a B or no sorry, spots are filled etc). Regardless of that, chemistry was already filled up locally so it wasn’t even possible for me.

Oh no ? Do you all the other pre-reqs though? For my application, I actually had an C+ on Chem and they told me that if I would like they can enroll me in pre-nursing fall semester to re-take chem at LIU and then enter me into the Nursing program the following semester for an higher chance of acceptance but I just said I would see. I ended up getting accepted into the program anyway with a C+ in Chem so maybe they might be able to do something for you? I also had an bio associates deg which probably helped my application tho. You should find out as soon as possible though since class registration already started.

Honestly my only class that was “low” was ap2 and that was a B but other than that two B+ and the rest are A’s. My associates was a basic liberal arts because that’s what I was told most nursing students did..I’m going to start composing an email now that way hopefully I’ll receive a response tomorrow although probably not since communication with them even when I call is at least a week turn around time

As far I know the Nursing programs at LIU post start every Fall. You can still apply for Fall 19, some candidates might drop out. You should sit down with a transfer counselor and discuss that with them.
