Hey guys, so I'm starting clinicals next month and need to buy a stethoscope. I was looking at littmann lightweight (cheapest littmann I've found) or an MDF one as those are affordable too and seem to have good reviews. Anyone have any experience with either of these and can recommend one over the other? Feel free to give me new ideas, I'm just looking for one that'll do the job in nursing school but doesn't cost me an arm and a leg! Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend getting a cheap one from the store or off Amazon. Things get "misplaced" during clinicals and it would suck to lose a pricey stethscope. There have been plenty of times where I've had fellow coworkers and MD's that borrowed my stethoscope in the promise of a return. Day goes by, I forget and don't think about it until I'm getting ready for my next shift. Funny thing is, my stethoscope always somehow gets back to me even to this day. As long as you can hear lung sounds and heart sounds, you'll good to go and any stethscope should do. Reward yourself with a quality, pricey one when you graduate, at least that's what my best friend did for me ?

I'd recommend checking out adscope by ADC; they have the same models as Littmann that are *almost* as good quality for about half the price. Therefore, for the same amount of money, you could get a low-quality Littmann (the SE) or a mid-quality adscope (the adult stainless steel, comparable to the Littmann Classic).

I included the link for reference, but you still might find a better deal by browsing around the internet.
