Little Ms. Bossy...

Published

Ok, I'm getting really annoyed at work with a new employee. I started a new job 2 months ago in a clinic setting. Right now there is me (an LPN) and one other LPN working there. The other LPN is leaving her job soon, and a new LPN will take her place. My boss just told me that I would become the new charge nurse so to speak, since the other nurse is leaving. I will have to help train the new LPN when she starts. I have met the new LPN and she seems really nice. I have learned a lot since being there, but feel I still have a lot to learn since this is my first real nursing job. However, I really am starting to like my job.

Anyway, our office manager just hired another new girl a week ago. She's a young girl in her early 20's, & she is a little "Ms. Know it all." She is getting on my nerves so bad already. She was hired on as a medical assistant, but to my knowledge, has never had any medical assistant training. I'm assuming they're (the doctors in our office) training her on the job. She has been there 5 days, & you'd think she was a neurosurgeon. She acts like she knows everything! Starting today, she smarted off to me several times... She also burst in to the receptionist office & demanded to know from the receptionists where some tests results were the doctor needed (which pis#! off the receptionist), she TOLD me how some things needed to be done in our office, and on and on. She acts like an absolute angel when the doctors/office manager is near, but is a she-devil when they aren't around. I'm getting tired of her already! I can tell she doesn't like the idea of my being in charge over her, and is trying to tell me what to do. What would be the best way to handle this situation?

Tell her how it is!

9livesRN, you're right. If she says anything else, I'm going to put her in her place! Otherwise, I'll go to the office manager...
