Linfield college waitlist

Published

Hello out there! I'm looking for a little info. I have been place on Linfield College's waitlist for the summer and fall start 2010. They said in the letter that they cannot tell me what my ranking is specifically. I was just wondering if anyone knows what my chances may be. Do they take a lot of people from the waitlist? Or only a handful? Also should I be working on anything in case I do get in? Such as immunizations, etc...? Any info would be really helpful. I'm feeling a little lost in this whole process.

I would definitely get started on your immunizations. I started mine in December and won't finish them up until July because of the length of time in between dosages. You can find a list of the required immunizations in the Linfield Student Handbook at: Student Handbook | Linfield College, Portland Campus

Additionally, I would get your BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR certification. I did mine through Lifeline: http://www.cprlifeline.com/Schedule%20Page.htm , but there are other places where you can get it, as well.

Hi Jessi76-

Sounds like we are in the same boat. I have been checking this site and the Linfield Nursing Admissions Facebook page like a crazy person trying to find out if anyone on the waitlist has been notified yet. This wait seems to have my entire life on hold, ugh!

I hope we hear something soon! Good luck!

You *may* not hear anything until after the 17th.... the person who is normally in charge of notifying people is out of the office until then.

Oh good to know. Thanks for the info!

Yes, thank you very much for the info info. jmeh, I know exactly what you mean. Since that is the only school that I applied to that I have been placed on a waitlist my whole life/plan B are on hold. I was thinking about giving them a call today to see if they had any info, but I guess maybe the info lady is out of the office? Couldn't hurt to try, I guess. Good luck to you too. I just wonder how many people from the waitlist make it in, in a typical year...

I hope neither one of us has to move on to "plan b". My plan b is not nearly as cool as getting into nursing school...it's actually really depressing to even have to consider it. I only applied to OHSU and Linfield so I put all my eggs in two baskets too and that OHSU basket was pretty weak so when I didn't get in I wasn't surprised.

Anyway, I don't know much, but per the Facebook page there are about 50 people on the waitlist. Hopefully we are at the top. Let us know if you called and received any additional info! :-)

Hi Jmeh and Jessie, Good luck and keep us posted!

Mindy is out until the 17th as stated, so you won't get far by calling Linfield. I'm sure you will hear soon after that since we had to say yes to them by the 1st of May!

Good idea to get started on the immunization list, and you can take the CPR/first aid for health care providers. I'm going to do it through CPR Lifeline on Barbur Blvd. Also, the orientation for Linfield is on August 9th (no time given) so keep that day free.

Hey jmeh,

Ok, so I sent an email to Mindy. She is out of the office until the 17th and she did say that we might not hear anything until then. But I recommend that you email her. She seems very nice and although she is out of the office, she got back to me promptly and answered all of my questions. I hope that helps! I feel much better after talking to her via email. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about getting in! I hope you do too!

Good luck! Keep me posted.

For what it's worth, I personally know about four people that have turned down Linfield seats in favor of other schools. I don't know what does to your status specifically, but I do know it means there is definite hope!

I also know someone who is turning down Linfield for another option, opening up a spot in the summer accelerated program.

Best of luck to all those patiently continuing to wait and those on the alternate list.
