Lincoln Tech Moorestown Nj questions

U.S.A. New Jersey

Hi everyone! I have been silently following the boards here for a little and decided to sign up. I am finally going for my dream to be a nurse and I am looking at Lincoln Tech or Camden County College. I heard all the horror stories of LT but I know you get what you put in and I'm planning working my butt off.I have some questions though:Anyone here go to LT- did you have a hard time landing a job after graduation? Will LT transfer to get RN later. Anyone here go from LT to RN program? Where and were prerequisites required? Is it hard to get licensed in Pa and Nj?Where does LT do clinicals? So sorry for all the questions. I'm anxious about making the right choice. Talk to you all soon!Chris

I did not go to LT, although I precepted a co worker from LT Moorestown...She did not have a Peds rotation or Peds classes, so she had no clue about the pediatric side of nursing. The LT here in my area has a peds rotation. I work at a Pediatric facility, we really took a chance on her, and she was pretty successful.

PLEASE check if they are not short cutting on the subjects!!! If you are planning to be licensed in PA (I'm here in PA...was an LPN for 7 years) there are vast opportunities in pediatrics, home visits-which include wound care, maternity, adult, and peds,(even in NJ) so as long as the program is COMPLETE program, so will be able to adjust to the material once you start a RN program. PLEASE do your due dilligence in finding a program. You want to get as much out of you education as you possible can-it opens A LOT if doors, and it is YOUR investment!!! Sometimes it is not about how much you put in, but if your program is not giving you the adequate preparation, YOU will be at a disadvantage. I have seen a lot of "fly by night" style LPN programs that max out financial aid, making obtaining a RN more challenging, on top of the possibilities of the company you may be employed MAY NOT assist with schooling...that is a possibility. I am not familiar with NJ, but a community college seems like the best way to go and it may be more complete AND cost effective! You are going to have to take prerequisites to prior to getting your RN...that is to prepare you for a different style of thinking critically and understanding the science of ethics...you will get that in LPN schools, but when you are a RN, your autonomy increases, and ability to step in more leadership-demanding positions (not even necessarily as a nurse manager or a supervisor) such as educating patients, staff, and peers, be a part of committees, where you work, as well as understand trends in your patients to prevent further complications is important, and you DO NOT want to take those classes lightly. Prepare yourself as much as possible. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your reply. I will be spending my day tomorrow calling differet schools and asking them a lot of questions. I am certainly taking this seriously and want what's best for my future so thank you for your honest response!
