Hi,doing a little research about what bothers people the most about their nursing supervisors. What you don't like about them. Any info would be a great help.Even if it is just one word.
My nurse manager and charge nurse are both wonderful nurses and women! I get very frustrated because my nm tends to agree with management over staffing issues, but, when she comes to the floor, she does listen to us and then stands up for us. My charge nurse will just tell management how things are on the floor at that time and won't allow management to run us over with new admits all at the same time, send someone home when we are expecting new arrivals, etc. Both nm and charge nurse are great about helping us when there is a question, problem, unruly family member, all the things that happen daily.
My nurse manager is new (1 yr to her position) and trained under another favorite nurse manager of mine. I have had a nurse manager that would not stand up for us at all. I stayed with her a year until I transferred to another unit. There I met my first favorite nm and then she talked me into giving the new nm a try and have been with her since she started on her floor. My first favorite nm still calls me and checks with me, always telling me that I will always have a position with her if I want it.
