Like np role more than bedside?

I was a very enthusiastic new grad 10 years ago, eager to work bedside. Over the years I have grown weary of the stress, lack of breaks, unpleasant odors and so on.

I believe I can take charge of my future as an NP, provide good care and be happier in that role.

I wonder if I'm being too optimistic.

Do you enjoy your role better as an NP?

Do you miss bedside nursing?

I have been a NP for 3 years and I don't regret it for one minute. What I miss the most about being a bedside nurse is the ability to be surrounded by fellow nurses.

Every time I say I'm gonna drop out of this expensive program, in fewer than three of my friends who have made the switch tell me that they never regretted it and neither will I. Lots of bedside nurses I know look down on it for the limited scope of practice but on the flip side, the np converts seem soooooo much happier with their work!

See, this is the kind of thing I like and think that matters--if people are happy in their work.

Most of the NPs I know like or are happy in their work, and that can only be a good thing.

In a lot of posts "NP vs RN", people address the financial aspects. I am aware that the income will be better, but I'm more interested in my future happiness, fulfilment and what I can do to contribute to society.

It seems that those that have made the switch are happier in their new role (for the most part). What aspects about your new role were unexpected? Disappointing? Blessings?
