i am studying to be a care assistant and part of my course is obviously written work.
i have got stuck on a few of my questions and was wondering if anyone could help.
question 1 . why is it unlawful to have a ' no lifting' policy
question 2.why might these following signs be classed as discriminatory if they were found in the work place:

i have no idea! is that really illegal? some hospitals do have "no lift" policies, using equipment (mechanical lifts, slide sheets, transfer boards, etc.) to reduce worker injuries is a good thing! Unless i'm misunderstanding what you mean by "no lifting"?
question 2.why might these following signs be classed as discriminatory if they were found in the work place: care worker wanted 18- 40 for new unit
party friday night bring your husbands / wives
not sure if this is the answer they're looking for, but i'd say the wording is exclusionary in that it makes it sound like couples who are not married are not welcome to bring their partners to this party. Also in some states equal marriage rights are still not a thing, so in that case it would appear to exclude gay couples as well.
why do women get married in white? to match the kitchen appliances
gender-based discrimination; could make the case that signs /"jokes" like this create a workplace culture that is demeaning toward women and/or does not treat them as equals to men.

To add to Ceccia's input, I think maybe the issue with "bring your husbands/wives" may also be excluding those who are simply single. It sounds like a married couples only party.
