Hello all,

I am a LPN for NJ, I want to apply for a license in PA also but cannot find the information or application on the NJ board of nursing website.Im not sure how to go through this process. Can someone please help me figure this out? Thanks!

If you want a PA license, you need to go to the website for the PA nursing board. NJ won't handle anything to do with PA. Now if both are compact states, that is a different matter. You would have to inquire how to go about dealing with a compact license from one state to the other.

Yes I should of mentioned that I did go onto PA BON website also and could not find the information that I was looking for. Pa and NJ are both not compact states, so im not sure what I have to do.

If neither are compact states, you go to the PA website and apply for a PA license as if you were doing it from scratch. There is probably a question on the app where they ask if you hold licenses elsewhere and you would list your NJ license. If you intend to keep both licenses, then you have to keep up with your renewals and pay for both.

I wasnt aware that I had to apply from scratch, thank you for the response!

It sounds like you're already licensed in NJ, so you are looking, on the PA BON website, for information on licensure by endorsement -- that's the process if you've already passed the NCLEX and are currently licensed in another state. All the information and forms you need should be there, and pretty easy to find.

Here is the website: http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/state_board_of_nursing/12515/licensure_information/572048

You want to look down the list in the center of the page for the link for "Application for Licensure by Endorsement With Temporary Practice Permit." The information and application form are right there.
