thats good news i hpe the remaining state will follow to lessen the expenses occur in the examination process.
Yes, i hope that it would be easier to transfer from state to state. Does anyone know if you still need to complete the requirements for a state even if you're going to be endorsed? Does Texas need a CGFNS?
can you share the link or the website where you got this information?thanks:heartbeat

Oh no. So you'll need to take the NCLEX again?

The NCLEX exam has reciprocity; licenses do not. One must meet the requirements of the new state in order to get their license there.
It is not always easy to endorse to another state, licenses are not transferred; you would still maintain the original license until it expired if you do not renew it.
You must meet the educational requirements of the new state in order to get accepted by them. Not all training is accepted in all fifty states. Even CA has not accepted some training done in the Philippines. They do their own credentials eval, and they do not give it to other states.
Whatever the new state wants, then that is what you will need to comply with. Most of the time it is just the CES report, which is a credentials eval.
If the passing letter expires from the state where it was issued and there was not a license issued before that, then yes, the NCLEX will need to be written all over again. Much has already been written on this topic. The CGFNS exam is only required for four states at this time, I would not worry about that.

Oh i see. Thank you so much. It seems that updates and laws regarding nursing keeps changing and I'm very thankful that this site is very up to date about it. I know some classmates who apply to a state where they don't intend to practice only because the requirements there are easier to meet. I guess they also don't know that they would eventually still need to complete those requirements. Thanks again.
And there are states now that will not permit a foreign nurse to endorse to them if they do not have actual work experience here in the US first.
Major one that comes to mind is Florida.

Hi, this is my first time posting. I have a question specifically related to this. I am a current F-1 student in FL. I have a SSN and I am aiming to graduate next summer from the nursing program here. Now, I know about the retrogression so my plan is to go for bsn when I pass NCLEX. Now, are you saying that i won't be able to get a RN license with FL? Or, this only applies for foreign nurses who want to come to FL to work? I need to be a RN in order to apply for bsn program.
Thank you for your time.

If training in Florida and applying to Florida you shouldn't have any problems, also difference is you have a SSN
Oh I see. I think I heard about that about New Mexico. But it's not that they don't allow you to endorse to them but a nurse can't apply for licensure in New Mexico then ask to be endorsed immediately. I think they have some holding period where you actually have to stay there for a while. Is that true?
Sorry, but there is not one state in the US that has a holding period as you state. It is just not true.
Applying for licensure to a state as initial licensure has nothing to do with applying for endorsement to the new state, they are handled by their respective BONs. The BON for NM does not have any say in what the new state will permit as far as licensure. Each state can set their own requirements.
I see.
thanks
