Hi! I received the letter from CA Board of Nursing that I have passed the NCLEX. However, they are requiring me to get an SSN so that they could issue my permanent US license.I don't know how and where to get that SSN. Do I first need to have an employer before I would be able to get an SSN? Another thing is, I am applying for Visa Screen Certificate. One of the question was if I passed the NCLEX, so I answered "Yes".But another question was If that passing the exam led to an issuance of my license? Is it okay if I answered "no" cause I still don't have the license.Would that answer affect my application for visa screen certificate?Help please.Thanks.....

This website goes over the steps to get a SSN. The other question, I am not sure you will have to contact who ever is in charge of the visa screening thing.

You will not get a SSN until in the US and can prove you have a valid work visa. Ca will destroy your file after 3 years so before the time is up (at least 6 months) and not in the US (due to retrogression) would suggest you consider applying to another state and protect your NCLEX results.
Suggest a good read in this forum as much has been written Even try searching the forum using Keywords like California.
ICHP are used to Ca not issuing a license you just need to arrange (for a small fee) Ca to send your results to them. It will not affect your application for VSC
