My significant other is a nurse in PA looking for a nursing job in the DC-area. He's primarily looking in DC, but also in bordering MD and VA. Do you all think it would be smart to wait to get a local nursing license until he knows where he'll be working, or get his DC license now before he's started applying for jobs? Maybe already having the license would make him a stronger candidate - ?
In many metro areas, employers will not take an application very seriously unless the candidate is licensed & 'good to go' in that state. This is because they don't want to waste time and resources only to run into a snag related to the licensing process.
