License by Endorsement

I'm getting frustrated! I'm trying to apply for my AZ license. I'm currently licensed in CA but originally in MN. I had help from recruiters going from MN to CA, so I don't remember it being this difficult. The application states I need a copy of a letter from CGFNS (i'm from Canada) with an ID number. CGFNS lists a billion different applications, and of course no one to talk to. So, does anyone know exactly what I need? Plus, wouldn't I have already done this going from MN to CA? I don't seem to have copies of anything, just a Visa Screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

When you applied for the VSC, you were issued a CGFNS ID#, this is what they are asking for.

They are speaking of what you did with CGFNS for the VSC. Nothing to worrry about.

AZ has made their requirements tighter, just as other states are doing.

So they just want a copy of my visa screen certificate? Because that only has a certificate #...unless that is the same as an ID #?

Az also require CES doing have you had that done?

That I don't know. I assume I did, as I recall having submitted transcripts before, but I really don't have a copy of anything. So, I guess i'll be reapplying for CES evaluation? It doesn't help that CGFNS has office hours til noon or 9am my time.

I would suggest you check with Az to what they want as a foreign trained nurse. I endorsed to Az and had to get CES done. Az website will indicate what is required

If you did the CES, you would have known about it. It requires a separate application as well as payment.

You went thru two states that did not require it. So there would have been no reason for you to do it in the past. AZ has been requiring the CES report in the past, not sure if they are going to want it from you if you have already been working in the US; this you will need to ask them directly about.

But remember, only the NCLEX exam has reciprocity. Licenses do not and one needs to meet the requirements for the new state to obtain a license under that jurisdiction. Foreign trained nurses usually have additional requirements for most locales.

Best of luck to you.

(p.s. As long as you have gone thru the VSC process and recently, it means that they already have all of the documentation, they just will need to have the application sent to them for the CES if that is what AZ wants you to get done. You will not need to resend anything else.)
