License by endorsement from Minn to Texas

I am trying to get a Texas license from Minn and it has been a month already. I called today and they are still processing and she said I can't work until I get that but a agency here said I can. Minn is not a compact state so I have to wait. The agency says they call them to move it along but I don't think that is right. I feel until I get that I would be practicing without a license . I feel I have to go by what the board says and not what the agency RN saysx. What do u think??:

What I highlighted in your post is your answer. If the BON says you can't work, you can't work.

Don't think for one minute that that agency will be supporting you if you get called out for practicing without a valid TX license. And even if they did, it would make absolutely no difference to the BON. You'd still be in a world of trouble with them.

However, I see nothing wrong with contacting the BON to inquire on the status of your application...just don't expect contacting them to push your application to the head of the queue.

Let me add something on...

Some states may give you a grace period to allow you to practice with another state's license while you wait to be endorsed...but if they do, it's usually 30 days or less. I'd check with the TX BON to see if there is such a grace period and if so, whether you are eligible for it.

I think you may be mistaken about that. I don't know of a single state (other than compact states or legislated disaster relief) that allow practice on another state's licensure. I help to maintain a state board resource and I've looked at practice procedures of every BON except Guam, Samoa, and Puerto Rico.
